This is a XV century Historic House situated just outside Florence city. The house is part of a 5 hectares estate which includes a XVI century Villa where my family lives since 1839 and an ancient greenhouse. In the 2004 the Villa has been completely and lovingly restored and opened to all the guests that would like to see, live and participate in our life, and visit Florence and the beautiful country villages of Tuscany. Life at Villa is unhurried , filled with the scents, flavors and furnishings of a past that is still alive.
The complex is furnished with original Tuscan antiques and ceramics owned by our family for generations . It has been divided into 5 apartments, elegant and spacious, which contain modern conveniences: individual heating and air conditioning units, a safe, satellite TV, dishwasher and high speed Internet connection. The pastel wall colors, the four-poster bed and the ancient terracotta floor tiles, contribute to creating a special atmosphere and warmth in the rooms. Bathrooms and Kitchen are furnished with authentic Carrara and other Tuscan marbles and other natural materials in splendid colors.
There is a laundry room in common use and 3 apartments have a private area outside with garden and courtyard. Chairs, deckchairs, barbecue, beach umbrellas and tables are available to enjoy the garden, having dinner or simply relaxation.
The villa is surrounded by rows of grapes and olive trees, interspersed with centuries-old vegetation: ancient species of fruit trees, vegetable garden, flower gardens and meadows. Our small working farm produces olive oil, red wine, organic vegetable, eggs, fruit, jams and other home made products available for our guests that are also welcome to enjoy the pool .
We like gardening, cooking and animals too: we keep free range ducks, rabbits, cats, our dog and also our own hens that kindly give us eggs to make delicious deserts and scramble eggs for breakfast. We started giving cooking lessons to our guests, cooking together our products in our kitchen, teaching the family recipes and hoping to diffuse a little bit of our culture and traditions. We personally take care of our guest's meals and because of that breakfast and dinner service are available only on request. Family reunions and weddings for small group of guests are more than welcome and fill our days with happiness! We are always available for assistance and organizing parties and activities for the groups, adults and children also. Additional maid, laundry, ironing, massages and baby sitting are available.
In front of the Villa there is a bus stop to Florence and the train station is about 15 minutes walking distance: the train will take you to Florence in less than 15 minutes. Restaurants, pharmacy, bank, grocery and other shops are all within easy reach. There's plenty of nice walks on the surrounding hills, full of beautiful ancient Villas, herbs and olive trees.
We work also with a professional tourist guide, my good friend, that could help our guests in visiting Tuscany and knowing about its history, activities, gastronomy and wines.
Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Chianti are only some of the beautiful places reachable in about one hour from the villa.
This apartment is positioned on the ground floor: it has a large living room (40 mq) with a nice cooking corner and a big glass door which looks over its private garden and its courtyard. There is a bright double room with a monumental wrought iron tester bed (XVIII century), a special studio on a lifted up ground with a panoramic view above the roof and a wide bathroom with shower and tub.
